Breath
Today, we practice Nadi Sodana (alternate nostril breathing), also sometimes referred to as “Anuloma Viloma”. Nadi is a Sanskrit word meaning “channel” or “flow” and shodhana means “purification.” This type of breathing is great for concentration, cleansing the nasal passages and is a fantastic headache cure. Alternate Nostril Breathing is a wonderful way to prepare the body for meditation for asana practice, hence why we practice it today.
This pranayama is designed to create emotional and spiritual balance. It also has these benefits:
- Oxygenates the blood
- Strengthens the respiratory system
- Calms the nervous system
- Relieves headaches
- Brings left and right hemispheres to a balanced state
Close your eyes, follow the guidance and try it on your own once you get the hang of it. Try several sets and notice the changes in your energetic and physical body.
